Description & Explanation
A key aspect of treating skin conditions with Chinese medicine is to administer herbs both internally and topically.
Sores and lesions in Chinese medicine that appear moist, swollen, or contain pus are said to have pathologic dampness.
Sores that are red, pink, or are blood-streaked, also have an element of toxic heat. Yellow discharge is another sign that heat has combined with dampness. To disperse swelling and inflammation and eliminate toxins, herbs are used that resolve dampness and clear toxic heat.
Treatment also aims to stop the itching that may come from a sore.
For this sort of damp-heat sore or lesion, it is recommended that topical treatment is with powdered herbs or a water based decoction. This is because lotions and oil based ointments would exacerbate the dampness. Skin Repair Topical Powder can be applied directly onto lesions, or it can be combined with water to make a paste to put on the lesion.

Directions & Dosage
Treatment Course As a general rule, the longer a dog has suffered with a health problem the longer it takes to resolve. Some conditions heal within a week or two. Others require longer treatment. If treatment is given for more than two weeks, we recommend treating for 8 days on and two days off.
Dosage
Before use, test on a small area of skin to assess reaction. If there are no unwanted effects, apply to larger areas as necessary.
Apply directly to itchy areas of skin up to 5 times per day. This topical blend is made with only food grade ingredients and is safe for internal use if licked off the skin. Most dogs will choose not to lick this formula due to the bitter nature of the herbs.
For best results, use together with Skin Repair Internal Blend.
