Frequently Asked Questions

What is Qi?
Qi is vital, life-force energy. One of the fundamentals of health in Chinese medicine is to have healthy, vibrant, flowing Qi.

How can I be sure that Chinese herbs are safe?
All our products are manufactured in the USA. The Chinese herbs we use come from top-quality, pharmaceutical-grade sources. They undergo rigorous testing for potency and to confirm that they are free of heavy metals, pesticides and microorganisms.

I just bought a bottle of Healthy Lung Blend and I notice that there’s some sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Is this normal?
Each of our blends is freshly made with multiple herbs. We do our best to strain all herbal particles out of the liquid, but occasionally some herbal particles will make their way into a bottle. This is nothing to worry about and will not change the healing properties of the blend.

How long will my dog need herbs?
Every dog is different and every condition is different. As a general rule, the longer a dog has suffered with a health problem the longer it takes to get rid of it. Some conditions resolve within a week or two. Others require longer treatment. If treatment is given for more than two weeks, we recommend treating for 8 days on and two days off.

Are there animal products used in Qi Blends formulas?
One of the ingredients in our Serenity Blend is oyster shell. Other than that, there are no animal products in any of our products. We are dedicated to quality ingredients and to the love and respect of animals. No animals are harmed in the manufacturing or testing of our products.

My dog has a cough and also has itchy skin. Is it OK to use more than one Qi Blends formula at the same time?
Yes, it’s perfectly fine to use more than one product at the same time. All of our blends are compatible with each other and can be safely used together. In most cases we recommend that you not use more than two internal blends at any given time, though. The most important thing is that the dog is given a high enough dose of each blend to be effective. When using two internal blends, we recommend that you split the dosages half and half or use 2/3rds dose of one blend with 1/3rd dose of another.

Our dog is anxious all the time. We have given her Serenity Blend for 4 days, but we’re not yet noticing any changes. What should we do?
Generally speaking, the longer a dog has had a condition the longer it takes to treat it. If your dog has had anxiety for months or years, results may not be noticeable right away. In giving recommended daily dosages, we heed on the side of caution. The dosages on the low end of our scale are very low. If your dog does well with a lower dose, it’s fine to increase the dosage to the higher end of our scale after about a week of treatment.

Is it OK to give herbs to a dog who is nursing puppies?
Unless specifically noted, it is safe to give Qi Blends formulas to dogs who are nursing. We recommend that you pay attention to the puppies’ digestion and sleep after taking the herbs. If the puppies have no adverse reactions, then the herbs are fine. In fact, the mothers’ milk is probably better quality if she is brought into balance by taking herbs.

My dog has one hot spot and has never had a hot spot before. Do I need to use both the internal and topical blend?
If your dog has never had a hot spot before, it’s OK to begin treatment with just Skin Repair Topical Powder. If there is more than one spot or if the skin condition is chronic in nature, it’s important to use the internal and topical herbs together.
