Calming Herbal Remedy for Dogs & Cats

Serenity Blend is a calming herbal remedy for dogs and cats suffering from general anxiety symptoms as well as those who are easily frightened or startled. This natural herb blend focuses on calming for stressful situations such as thunderstorms, July 4th fireworks, trips to the vet, competitive events, or traveling. Many animals respond well to Serenity Blend when there is stress in the home from fighting, grieving, or illness. It has a soothing effect after a traumatic event such as a dog fight, and can be taken on a short-term or long-term basis.

Natural stress relief for my anxious kitty!

This herb blend really takes the edge off for my 5-year-old cat. She’s always been nervous and anxious (but now is much happier)!

Serenity Blend calms the emotions naturally by balancing the meridians of the Heart, Spleen, and Liver. An imbalance in all three of these together is a common picture in nervous animals.

In Chinese medicine, the Heart meridian is said to house the spirit. The spirit encompasses both emotions and mental functioning. (Remember that Chinese organs are not the same as the Western organs of the same name.) The Chinese Heart moves the blood, but also controls the emotions. Emotional change can damage the Qi (energy) and blood of the Heart, or can come about if the Heart Qi and blood are already weak.

Excessive worry damages the Spleen meridian which makes Qi (energy) from food. This can leave the animal feeling lethargic or having weak digestion. Qi is also the “mother” of blood. So if there is a lack of Qi, then there will also be a lack of blood to nourish the Heart. Heart blood deficiency and Spleen Qi deficiency lead to a susceptibility of fear.

Chinese medicine teaches that stress and “unfulfilled desires” cause the Qi of the Liver meridian to become stuck or stagnant. Like humans, pets also have unfulfilled desires. Sometimes they are alone more than they’d like, or they are unhappy because of noises from storms or fireworks. It may make them frightened to go in the car to see the vet, or they may pick up on stress from people in their homes. Any of these situations result in stagnant Liver Qi.

Serenity Blend brings balance to all three of these meridians, bringing healing to the animal regardless of the initial cause of anxiety or stress.

The Chinese medicine treatment principles of this blend are to –
• Nourish Heart Blood
• Move Liver Qi
• Supplement the Spleen
• Calm the Spirit

Ingredients

Serenity Blend is made with these highest quality natural ingredients:

Mu Li (Concha Ostreae), Huang Qi (Radix Astragali Membranacei), Suan Zao Ren (Semen Zizyphi Spinosae), Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Fu Shen (Sclerotium Pararadicis Poriae Cocos), Yuan Zhi (Radix Polygalae Tenuifoliae), Mu Xiang (Radix Auklandiae Lappae), Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Yu Jin (Tuber Curcumae), Da Zao (Fructus Zizyphi Jujubae), Dang Shen (Radix Codonopsitis Pilosulae), Chai Hu (Radix Bupleuri), Bai Shao (Radix Albus Paeoniae Lactiflorae), Long Yan Rou (Arillus Euphoriae Longanae), Bo He (Herba Menthae Haplocalysis), Zhi Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) in a base of pure vegetable glycerine, water, and organic alcohol (total alcohol content less than 4%).

Directions & Dosage

Treatment Course – As a general rule, the longer an animal has suffered with a health problem the longer it takes to resolve. Some conditions heal within a week or two. Others require longer treatment. If treatment is given for more than two weeks, we recommend treating for 8 days on and two days off.

Mix blend into food. Refrigerate when open.

Because of the sweet flavor of the glycerine in our blends, most pets enjoy the taste. Some may need the herbs to be mixed into wet food.

Dosage

1-25 pound cats and dogs – 10-15 drops, 2-3x/day
26-60 pound dogs – 20-40 drops, 2-3x/day
61 pounds and up – 1-2 dropperfuls, 2-3x/day

A squeeze of the dropper bulb fills it about halfway up. This is considered a “dropperful.”
One dropper is approximately 45 drops.

Cautions & Contraindications

Not for use during pregnancy or if taking blood thinning medication.

  1. Within the past few months I’ve had to travel a lot for work. Needless to say – my cat hates it when I’m gone. When I return, she meows and howls throughout the night for 3 or 4 nights waking me up every couple of hours. No matter how much attention I give her, it doesn’t seem to help.

I did some research and decided to try Serenity Blend to see if calming her down might help. And amazingly – it did!! I was gone for a week over the holidays to be with family. I came back, immediately started giving her the herbs, and of course gave her a lot of love. She was still super-demanding of attention, but the meowing and howling all night didn’t happen at all!

I can feel how much happier she is and I’m so grateful.

  2. Our dachshund Elvis loves Serenity blend. He used to be very anxious with a lot of shaking and got scared at the slightest noise. Now he’s so much calmer! Elvis still has lots of energy and excitement, though. My husband and I laugh every time we give him the herbs. We put the drops on a piece of bread and say “treat.” Elvis loves it. He comes running to us, wagging his tail vigorously and can’t wait for us to give it to him. Serenity blend has become his favorite thing – and we love to see him happy!

  3. We had a lot of success with the Chinese Bladder formula so decided to try the Serenity blend for our rescue kitty. She had been abused as a kitten and we could tell she felt really anxious. We made our home as safe and comfortable as possible for her to relax. This blend seemed to take a little longer to be effective, around 2-3 weeks. But she is now showing signs of being a happy kitty- arching her back more and squinting her eyes at me like she’s saying “I love you”. I think this is definitely a great remedy and also preventative for any future stress. Definitely recommend!

  4. I love bringing my little Chihuahua to work, but she is really sensitive and hyperactive. Lately I’ve started giving her a good dose of Serenity Blend before we go. It works beautifully to relax her so she can chill out and let me get my work done!

  5. Our Gracie is a senior dog who gets anxious at the littlest things. I put the Serenity Blend in her food twice a day and she is much more at ease with her surroundings. We call this remedy the “Zen Blend.”
